Juan Antonio Bayona, director of The Orphanage, and Focus Features are bringing us A Monster Calls in 2016.  While this doesn’t look like the hardcore horror we are used to, the teaser is beautiful.  The movie stars, among others, Liam Neeson and Sigourney Weaver which in itself is impressive.  The Orphanage is one of my favorite horror films of all time so it is safe to say I am a fan of Bayona.  The titular monster doesn’t really star in this teaser, but what we do see looks pretty damn cool.  This one won’t shock you, disgust you or leave you screaming, but it looks like a damn beautiful picture.  A Monster Calls hits theaters October 14, 2016.

A visually spectacular drama from acclaimed director Juan Antonio Bayona (“The Impossible”), based on the award-winning children’s fantasy novel. 12-year-old Conor (Lewis MacDougall) attempts to deal with his mother’s (Felicity Jones) illness and the bullying of his classmates by escaping into a fantastical world of monsters and fairy tales that explore courage, loss, and faith.
