One of the most pleasant surprises to come out of SXSW this year was Joel Potrykus’ clever and atypical tale of isolation and alchemy (review).  Ahead of release, Oscilloscope Laboratories has released a trailer that perfectly captures the tone and biting wit perfectly.  Seriously, it’s a fantastic trailer that makes me ecstatic that I’ll get to revisit Ty Hickson’s stellar performance as Sean, the loner with a penchant for toying with alchemy.

The Alchemist Cookbook will release on October 7, 2016, which you can pre-order now through Oscilloscope Laboratories here.

Young outcast Sean has isolated himself in a trailer in the woods, setting out on alchemic pursuits, with his cat Kaspar as his sole companion. Filled with disdain for authority, he’s fled the daily grind and holed up in the wilderness, escaping a society that has no place for him. But when he turns from chemistry to black magic to crack nature’s secret, things go awry and he awakens something far more sinister and dangerous.
