We had gotten word not long ago that Gary Dauberman (writer of Annabelle) was confirmed to be working on a sequel to the often-divisive 2014 Conjuring spin-off, ANNABELLE. I’ve gone on record multiple times stating that I found the movie to be quite enjoyable. It didn’t feature a lame killer doll running around and was all about the atmosphere. It had its faults, but nothing major. That said, we knew that producers would be looking to capitalize on the first film’s successes (such as the atmosphere), and now it looks like they have brought in a fresh new director that knows a thing or two about the science of building an effective scare–David F. Sandberg.

We have covered Sandberg at length in the past, and will have some exciting news to share with you about his upcoming feature film debut, LIGHTS OUT, in the near future. This is a guy worth keeping an eye on, and it looks like he has made some pretty influential friends in his limited time on the scene.

As for ANNABELLE 2–James Wan is on board to produce with New Line, and a 2017 release is expected; but not confirmed. We’ll keep you posted on the latest as it comes our way, so stay tuned.
