On this week’s episode of The Modern Horrors Podcast, we stumbled across Badoet [Review]. We didn’t have many details at the time – We just knew it looked fantastic, and that it possesses one of the most frightening YouTube thumbnails of all time. Seriously

Since that episode, I have been able to have a chat with Awi Suryadi; the director of this now anticipated title. He was able to provide some plot details as well as some (somewhat disheartening) release info.

Check it out:

He comes with laughter, goes with death.

After three children are tragically murdered, a band of college students is forced to conduct an investigation. When evidence against a mysterious clown figure starts to mount, our heroes soon realize that what they are facing is a force that disguises its darkness through laughter – A force so menacing that it will not hesitate to kill to get what it wants…immortality.

So there you have it. That plot synopsis coupled with the uber-creepy trailer below could mean one hell of a clown flick. Unfortunately, it’s not all great news. While the film is expected to release in the September/October time frame in Indonesia – there are no current plans to bring the film to the United States or other regions.

Be sure to show Awi Suryadi (@AwiSuryadi) your support on twitter, and let him know you want to see his work! Localization is tough, so let’s be sure to assist in any way we can.

We’ll keep you posted with additional details as they come our way. Stay tuned.

UPDATE:

We were fortunate enough to have the first look at this film here in the United States – Check out the official review to see if this one lives up to our hype:
