There is something else under the ice...

It’s relatively common for horror films to be well received in film festivals – only to drop off the face of the earth shortly thereafter. It’s an unfortunate reality that plagues independent filmmakers (and horror fans) across the globe. It sucks, but there’s almost always a light at the end of the tunnel. Luckily, Black Mountain Side has reached that light.

A fan-favorite at the 2014 Fantasia Film Festival, Black Side Mountain has been compared to John Carpenter’s The Thing. But I wouldn’t go into this one expecting monsters and buckets of FX work – I’m expecting a much more cerebral horror film, and I’m excited for it.

Black Mountain Side is hitting DVD on January 26th. We’ll have a full review for you in the coming days, so stay tuned. Until then, check out the official plot synopsis, still images, and trailer below:

Black Mountain Side follows a group of archaeologists after they uncover a strange structure in Northern Canada, dating over ten thousand years before the present. The team finds themselves isolated when their communication systems fail and it is not long before they begin to feel the effects of the solitude.
