I can’t remember the last time that I was this excited for a major theatrical release. I’ve always been a huge Texas Chainsaw Massacre fan, and the sooner I can get the bitter taste of Texas Chainsaw 3D out of my mouth, the better. The excitement of another entry to the franchise might be enough to get most people’s motors running, but the fact that two of my favorite directors are at the helm makes me downright giddy.

I’ve covered the history of Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo at length, so let’s focus on the future. Leatherface is set to hit cinemas in 2016 and tells the origin story of everyone’s favorite chainsaw-wielding maniac. We got an early look at a sales poster several months ago, but it was kind of awful. Now we have a brand new poster that seems much more fitting of the gritty style that we’re all expecting. Check it out:

The film centers around a violent teen who one day will become Leatherface. He escapes from a mental hospital with three other inmates, kidnaps a young nurse and takes her on a road trip from hell. Along the way, they are pursued by an equally deranged lawman out for revenge.
