Sometimes you don’t get much, but what you do get is haunting.

Like a venomous cottonmouth, the teaser for CASTLE ROCK, HULU’s 10-episode anthology series, has side-winded its way from the New York Comic-Con to your doorstep, ready to hook you. And hook it does. Named after a fictional town in Maine that Stephen King features in most of his stories, CASTLE ROCK is sure to expand on a world already filled with the darkest of King’s favorite monster: Man.

Produced by J.J. Abrams and Creators Sam Shaw and Dustin Thomason (Lie to Me),the series will star some of the best character actors working today, including Sissy Spacek (Carrie), Scott Glenn (Daredevil), Terry O’Quinn (The Stepfather, The X-Files), Jane Levy (Don’t Breathe) and another young actor you’ve likely seen clowning around, Bill Skarsgard (IT).

The teaser definitely sets the Stephen King tone, weaving in images, names and places from King’s unparalleled body of work. Diehard King fans will likely catch more than me, but I thought I recognized what could be Misery, The Mangler, Needful Things, The Green Mile and of course, the unnerving final shot of a Shawshank Department of Corrections label on the fender of a car as it slowly slips underwater, hinting at what could only be described as foul play.

No one is allowed inside the city limits of CASTLE ROCK until 2018 when it premieres on HULU, but before you make that U-turn, enjoy the teaser now.
