There’s a new teaser for CASTLE ROCK, Hulu’s latest collaboration between J.S. Abrams and a Stephen King property, which is set to air during the Super Bowl. It furthers intertwines a star-studded cast with strange happenings in one of King’s most famous fictional towns. The series, set to air on Hulu this summer, will explore the themes and worlds uniting the entire King canon. For hard-core King fans, his expansive Kingverse is ripe for today’s binge-happy audiences.

The teaser shows Henry Deaver, played by André Holland (MOONLIGHT, SELMA), called back to Castle Rock because of a prisoner at Shawshank, who is played by Bill Skarsgård (IT). There’s also something strange happening in town again, and a frame centered on a bathtub drain conjures images of Pennywise. The teaser is as cryptic as you would expect from Abrams, who enjoys teasing and taunting fans with Easter eggs. This teaser should be no different.

King’s expansive collections of written works are very much connected to one another with his THE DARK TOWER series the spine his universe branches from. Characters, towns and events are referenced in other stories, creating a world of the supernatural and macabre.

Stephen King properties are hitting screens big and small so fast it’s almost impossible to keep up with all the news. Last year was gangbusters for the prolific author with GERALD’S GAME, IT, THE DARK TOWER and 1922 all getting movies adaptations. Then there are the TV works such as THE MIST and MR. MERCEDES, Abrams previously adapted 11.22.63 for Hulu, which garnered positive reviews.

CASTLE ROCK premieres this summer starring Holland, Sissy Spacek (CARRIE, THE HELP), Skarsgård, Melanie Lynskey (UP IN THE AIR) and Scott Glenn (DAREDEVIL). Can you spot all the King references?
