Dark Sky Films has made a habit of releasing top-notch genre films, and early next year, they’ll be bringing us Cherry Tree from director David Keating. They’re calling it a sexy, gory, and haunting film about a young woman who falls in with witches to save her father’s life.  The trailer brings images of Rosemary’s Baby and Lords of Salem to my mind without being too familiar.  Cherry Tree looks dark in all the right ways and will definitely chase the last vestiges of holiday spirit from your mind.  Check out the poster and trailer below and get excited for Cherry Tree to hit theaters and VOD on January 8, 2016!

Faith’s world is turned upside down after she finds out that her beloved father is dying. When the mysteriously alluring Sissy Young becomes her new hockey coach, Faith has no idea that Sissy is the head of a witches’ coven that has resided in her home town of Orchard for centuries. Using the fruit of an ancient cherry tree in a bloody ritual, the witches can bring the dead and dying back to life, and when Sissy offers to cure Faith’s father, she lures the young woman into a dangerous deal that will leave her fighting for her life.
