Whether he is directing, writing, or producing, I always seem to get a little bit excited when I hear that Guillermo del Toro is involved in a new project. I feel The Strain really showcases what is in the mind of del Toro, and given a format like a television series, it is safe to say that he has done a good job at letting the creativity flow. So when news broke about Amazon picking up del Toro’s latest series project, CARNIVAL ROW, it is needless to say that excitement had me all sorts of verklempt.

CARNIVAL ROW was originally a supernatural feature spec script written by Travis Beacham titled A Killing on Carnival Row. The script was first sold to New Line and Koppelson Entertainment back in 2005 where del Toro tinkered with the project, but it never took off.

In 2015, Amazon inked a major development deal for the original project to be co-written by Beachham, del Toro, Peter Cameron, and co-creator of the television show The 4400, Rene Echevarria. Production is beginning for the pilot that was written by Echevarria, who will also serve as the show runner and executive producer along side del Toro, Beacham, and Gary Unger. As news, pictures, and trailers for CARNIVAL ROW, are released, Modern Horrors will be here to report it!

Set in the future in a city called the Burgue, which looks a lot like 18th Century London. It is inhabited by humans and other creatures, with a serial killer on the loose.
