Unfortunately, we live in a world where mental illness is all around us and often goes unnoticed. I’m reminded of several episodes of the Sword and Scale Podcast (check em out) that dive into this exact topic. There have been several high profile real-world cases that feature the mentally ill documenting their strange and unsettling escapades up to a point where something truly terrible happens. In my morbid curiosity, I’ve gone back and watched some of the videos left by these madmen and noticed that we’ve never really seen anything in horror that nails the atmosphere of true life dementia captured on tape… but I think we have now.

BE MY CAT: A FILM FOR ANNE follows a young Romanian man that is filming a project with the intention of coercing Hollywood actress Anne Hathaway to be his star. Based on the trailer, the crude film style and authentic mannerisms add to an atmosphere that feels abundantly bleak. I haven’t had the pleasure of seeing the film for myself just yet, but it’s worth mentioning that it scooped the Special Jury Prize for Best Actor at the 2016 Nashville Film Festival–and I can certainly understand why.

Have a look at the trailer below, and see for yourself. There’s no official release date as of this writing, but we hope to have a full review ready for you in the near future. Stay tunes, ya weirdos.
