The perpetually busy genre master Guillermo del Toro has announced today via Twitter yet another project in his pipeline.  This time it’s a feature film adaptation of the nightmare inducing children’s book series, Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark by Alvin Schwartz.  Currently set to produce, del Toro potentially will also direct.

The screenplay has already been penned by John August (Big Fish, Frankenweenie, Dark Shadows), but plot details are still under wraps.  Let’s be honest, though, it’s Stephen Gammell’s eerie artwork featured in the book series that kept us coming back for more.  With del Toro’s vision and meticulous detail for visuals, this project holds promise.
