Written and directed by Joe Begos, his follow up to 2013’s Almost Human made waves last year when it premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and won the award for Best Director, Horror Feature at the 2015 Fantastic Fest. One of our own found herself smitten with the film after attending the premiere, while the rest of us were forced to wait for a distributor to acquire rights and release it to a wider audience.

RLJ Entertainment is just who we’ve been waiting for, as they’ve just acquired North American rights to the thriller and already have plans to release The Mind’s Eye in theaters and VOD later this year. Having just recently released Bone Tomahawk, RLJ Entertainment is no stranger to quality genre fare.

“Joe has an amazing eye and a clear love of old-school genre films,” said Mark Ward, RLJ Entertainment’s Chief Acquisitions Officer.  “His first feature had a cult following, and we are excited to share his new vision of horror with audiences.”

The Mind’s Eye reunites Begos with Almost Human star Graham Skipper, and also stars Lauren Ashley Carter, John Speredakos, and Noah Segan. The film was produced by Joe Begos, Josh Ethier, Graham Skipper, and Zak Zeman.

When Zack and Rachel, who both have telekinetic powers, are discovered by Dr. Slovak, they think they have found someone who wants to help them. But they soon learn that Dr. Slovak’s real intentions are to drain their abilities from them so he can use them for himself. Now, they must work together to stop this madman from achieving his goals.
