Volume 9 of HORROR AND CHILL is here and so is October!  Finally the month of horror and Halloween is upon us.  This is our time, my friends!  Be prepared for the onslaught of co-workers and acquaintances asking you for horror movie recommendations.  Well, you can do them one better…you can point them to 9 volumes of movies and libations for them to enjoy!  Without further adieu, I present you with our next killer list of boozy cinema!

What to watch?

A TALE OF TWO SISTERS is a movie that will stay with you long after the credits roll.  It is dark and Gothic, tragic and heartbreaking, fucking good and excellent.  This tale is a masterpiece from a country that keeps pumping out masterpieces.  You and your date are going to love cuddling up on the couch with this modern classic of Korean horror.

What to drink?

For A TALE OF TWO SISTERS, you’re going to need two drinks!  I’ll make it easy on you and both are going to feature vodka and only require one other ingredient!  First up, we’ve got a black russian.  Just mix vodka with some Kahlua and you are set!  Next up, you’ll have a vodka tonic!  This classic cocktail is made with vodka and tonic water.  I know you’re asking why I even bothered with that one, but those “not to be used internally” warnings on blow dryers exist for a reason!  Now, to really make these two cocktails work, make one for you and one for your paramour.  Now, interlock arms and sip your drinks!  You’re welcome.

What to watch?

THEM isn’t the longest movie I’ve ever recommended, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t excellent.  This isn’t your standard home invasion fare, but it might just ensure your date stays over so neither of you have to be alone.  Like I said, this movie is short, so you might want to pick another from this list to extend your evening a bit, or maybe watch this last to make sure the fear of being alone doesn’t dissipate!

What to drink?

Home invasion always makes me want to have a beer.  It has to be in a bottle though.  Why a bottle you ask?  Well, say your home IS invaded.  How are you going to fight back?  A beer bottle makes the perfect weapon of opportunity!  You can throw up, bludgeon the bad guy or break the bottle and get to stabbin’!  Not only is beer delicious, but it’ll also keep you safe.  Stay thirsty, my friends.

What to watch?

LAST SHIFT might end up being one of your go to movies to show new horror fans.  A rookie cop, an abandoned police station, demons, blood…what else could you want in a movie?  There are plenty of scares to make sure the chill portion of your night gets started early and you’ll be left wanting more!  Wouldn’t ya know it, we have a review for you to check out, just incase you need some help making up your mind.

What to drink?

The Fall chill is in the air and apple cider is filling the shelves.  You’re going to need to get a nice bottle of spiced rum and some of the finest apple cider available to you.  You can enjoy this drink hot or cold, just make sure you mix in the rum AFTER heating up the cider, or you might lose some potency.  Hot or cold, you’ll have an amazing drink to go with an amazing movie.

What to watch?

THE COLLECTOR is a movie that doesn’t get nearly enough love, imho.  If you took SAW, set Rube Goldberg loose, and added in a reluctant hero, you’d be able to approximate this flick.  If that doesn’t get you excited to watch, I just don’t know what will!  You just have to trust me, you’ll really enjoy THE COLLECTOR!

What to drink?

How about we go for an entire collection of alcohol?  Now, let’s put that collection all into one drink.  Enter, the Aunt Roberta!  Sure, it doesn’t sound too intense, but just wait until you check this recipe…

What to watch?

If you haven’t watched THE CABIN IN THE WOODS, I am doing you a favor.  No matter what else you choose to watch this weekend, you need to watch this movie.  While it is satirical in nature, that doesn’t take away from the scares or the insane twist on the traditional cabin in the woods tropes.  Did I mention that Joss Whedon produced and reportedly co-wrote this one?  Yes.  THAT Joss Whedon.  You’ll laugh, you’ll scream, you’ll slyly wrap your arm around the shoulder of your date and pull them close.  Watch this movie.

What to drink?

Ready to party in a cabin in the woods?  Gotta be shots shots shots shots shots shots shots shots shots shots shots everybodddddy!  Eh hem..sorry about that…I couldn’t resist.  I digress, you’re going to need shot glasses and a bottle of booze.  The kids these days are all about Fireball, so you should be too!  Make sure to hide the car keys, and maybe tell your pretty young thing to pack an overnight bag.  No one should drive after a night of shots.
