Two college girlfriends go to their parent’s secluded northern Minnesota lake cabin to prepare for final exams. An uninvited visitor stops by. He isn’t there to study.
“Lake Runs Red” was directly influenced by Bryan Bertino’s “The Strangers” (2008) and Alexandre Aja’s “High Tension” (2003). Both of these films not only inspired me to become a horror filmmaker, but also had a huge impact on the dynamics of my story. “Lake Runs Red” is also influenced by the new wave of extreme horror directors like Rob Zombie, James Wan, and Eli Roth. “The Devil’s Rejects” (2005) is actually my favorite horror film.

While the horror aspects of the film are directly influenced by horror films like “Human Centipede” (2009), “Saw” (2004), or “Hostel” (2008), I think the audience will be pleasantly surprised, that while the violence may be shocking, it isn’t necessarily gratuitous in relation to the emotional story we are telling.
