Some Horror Cons can be killer.

Keep Austin Weird, is what they always say. Well, the good folks at Austin, Texas-based production company Rooster Teeth have done just that with what looks like a grisly fun feature: BLOOD FEST.

The film is a perfect set-up for genre fans like us. Imagine if a Horror Con was actually a trap designed to attract one thing: Victims. After all, what Horror fan wouldn’t be drawn to an outdoor festival with costumes, genre fun and a devilishly entertaining host?

From the teaser, the story looks like CABIN IN THE WOODS, but with extremely relatable Con Nerds running for their lives and having to band together once the festival’s dark and bloody truth is revealed.

BLOOD FEST  is written and directed by Owen Egerton, whose screenplays have been on Hollywood’s famous Black List, a ranking of great un-produced screenplays, twice. The film stars Jacob Batalon (SPIDERMAN: HOMECOMING), Robbie Kay (HEROES: REBORN), and Tate Donovan (ARGO, MANCHESTER BY THE SEA).

Rooster Teeth will eventually release the film online, but for now it’s set to join 2018’s Midnighters lineup at South by Southwest. But you can dive into the horror fandom now with the teaser below.

Plot Synopsis:

Fans flock to a festival celebrating the most iconic horror movies, only to discover that the charismatic showman behind the event has a diabolical agenda. As festival attendees start dying off, three teenagers – more schooled in horror-film cliches than practical knowledge about neutralizing psycho killers – must band together and battle through various madmen and monstrosities to survive.
