You can’t scroll through your Facebook feed or read the comments section of practically any video on the internet without seeing some sort of nonsensical and racially-charged conversation. Racism is a hot-button topic, and it’s not often that we get such a blatant and unapologetic stance on it as we do in Jordan Peele’s debut trailer for GET OUT. The juxtaposition of colors is on display from the very beginning, and that’s not a bad thing.

We often applaud horror films for relaying underlying messages through the use of symbolism and metaphors, but it’s refreshing to see a film put it all out into the open. Is it hyperbolic and cranked past the point of reality? Well, yeah. But that’s sort of the point. GET OUT practically oozes of uncomfortable and cringe-worthy social situations in the trailer alone, and that’s coming from a white dude with a Puerto Rican last name. Above all else, it looks really fucking good.

The trailer is on the lengthy side, but it does more to build intrigue than to flat-out spoil. Check it out below, and let us know what you think. I believe 2017 just got its first big horror at the box office.

*And yes, the comments section for this very trailer has already turned into the cesspool of the internet. So yeah, point made, Mr. Peele.
When a young African-American man visits his white girlfriend’s family estate, he becomes ensnared in a more sinister reason for the invitation.
