Look at the title of this article. Now at the top image. Now back at the title. And one more time at that top image. KYRSYÄ – TUFTLAND is a damn FINNISH HILLBILLY HORROR MOVIE. Really, what more do we need to say about this?

A textile student goes to the isolated village of Kyrsyä for a summer job. That’s all the plot that we really know. From the trailer, we see the main character talking on the phone to a friend telling her to keep where she’s going a secret interlaced with shots of the hillbilly lifestyle in the village. There’s some cultish vibes happening in KYRSYÄ – TUFTLAND that we’re excited to see.

This is the directorial debut of Roope Olenius. The movie stars Veera W. Vilo, Jari Manninen and Enni Ojutkangas (BUNNY THE KILLER THING).

KYRSYÄ – TUFTLAND is set for release next month at the Other Worlds Austin in Texas. Its Asian premiere is in January at the Jaipur International Film Festival. There’s no official release date set.

A headstrong textile student tries to overcome her problems by accepting a summer job offer from an isolated and offbeat village of Kyrsyä.
