“Last Year” and Friday the 13th Now in IP Dispute
Awe man...
We had hoped that the striking similarities in the successfully crowd funded game “Last Year” and the newly announced “Friday the 13th” game alluded to some sort of merger or alliance between companies. Well….turns out that’s not the case. I personally reached out to “Last Year” developer multiple times on multiple mediums and never heard a word. Today, Crystal Lake Entertainment has seemingly broken the silence for us. Our friends at cliqist.com have reported campaign backers receiving the following email:
While this is disappointing info at first glance, I’m not sure Crystal Lake will have much of a leg to stand on. I mean, slashers are known to bite off of one another’s style. “Last Year” may have to remove hockey masks from the game.. maybe, but perhaps they can go old school and just put a burlap sack over his head and hope that The Town That Dreaded Sundown owners don’t sue the both of them. Or just maybe, they can strike a deal and work together on creating a dream come true for thousands of horror fans across the world.
