If there’s one thing I know about the Modern Horrors audience, it’s that you love dark, Swedish, 11th century films about the Norse equivalent of zombies.  Get ready folks – because 2017 is going to be your year!  A proof of concept trailer has just been released as pre-production begins on Draug.  Karin Engman & Klas Persson, best known for their web series The Great Dying, are hard at work to begin filming this summer.  The plan is to film on location in Sweden, which will definitely add to the overall vibe that they seem to be aiming for.  We’ll keep you up to date as more news is released, but until then… Take a look at The Great Dying, the amazing proof of concept trailer AND the album of stills below!

Sweden, 11th century. A missionary has gone missing inside Ödmården, a huge forest that divides the north from the south. The king sends out a rescue party to either retrieve him alive or kill the insurgents responsible for his death. Among the soldiers is Nanna, a young woman on her first mission. Orphaned at a young age she has been raised by the king’s guard and is now for the first time traveling to her birth home, the still pagan areas north of Ödmården.

Torn by her allegiance between her new and her old world she finds out, as they travel further and further into the forest, that there is something else with them in there.
