Mickey Keating’s SXSW hit POD has officially been picked up by Vertical Entertainment. Vertical plans to release POD both theatrically and via digital platform day-and-date this Fall. If you are unfamiliar with Keating, then get your shit together. His 2013 film ‘Ritual’ continues to be horrifically underrated and I expect a nationwide release of POD will aid in getting him the attentions he deserves.

No word on a concrete release date yet, but we will certainly keep you posted as we learn more.Read below for the full scoop courtesy of Deadline.

Vertical Entertainment has secured North American rights to Pod, writer-director Mickey Keating’s thriller that premiered in the Midnight section at SXSW. The pic follows estranged siblings (Dean Cates, Lauren Ashley Carter), who travel to their isolated family lake house in Maine to hold an intervention for their brother, Martin (Brian Morvant). They find the house ransacked and learn that Martin has constructed an elaborate and horrifying conspiracy theory surrounding a sinister entity that he believes he has trapped in the basement. Vertical will release the film day-and-date in theaters and VOD in the fall. The deal was negotiated by Vertical execs Rich Goldberg and Peter Jarowey and Nate Bolotin and Mette-Marie Katz of XYZ on behalf of the filmmakers.
