The first trailer for SPIKE channel’s 10-episode adaptation of Stephen King’s THE MIST has rolled in and according to one character in the preview, “It screws with your mind”.

With a tagline of FEAR. HUMAN. NATURE., we’re wondering if this re-telling will be the apocalyptic H.P. Lovecraft-inspired creature feature that Director Frank Darabont’s 2007 film was, or will it be something entirely new? Either way, this time it’s being formed and re-imagined for television by Executive Producer and Writer Christian Torpe and produced for Spike by TWC-Dimension Television. Torpe got his breakthrough with the hit comedy-drama series Rita in his native Denmark, for which he was nominated “International Producer of the year” and “European producer of the year” at the Monte Carlo Television Festival.

AMERICAN HORROR STORY’s Frances Conroy is just one of a recognizable cast of talented character actors joining the terror, including Morgan Spector (Boardwalk Empire) and Alyssa Sutherland (Vikings).

Weather permitting, THE MIST rolls in on Thursday, June 22 at 10 PM on Spike. Until then, batten down the hatches and check out the trailer and eerie poster below, because it looks like a storm is brewing.

Spike’s THE MIST centers around a small town family that is torn apart by a brutal crime. As they deal with the fallout an eerie mist rolls in, suddenly cutting them off from the rest of the world, and in some cases, each other. Family, friends and adversaries become strange bedfellows, battling the mysterious mist and its threats, fighting to maintain morality and sanity as the rules of society break down.
