October just gets better and better.

It may not be Friday the 13th, but Netflix came close enough. Their imagining of author Shirley Jackson’s famous ghost story, THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE will be available to scream–I mean, stream–on Friday, October 12th.

It seems like only yesterday we first told you about it and we’ve been giddy with anticipation ever since. After all, Jackson’s 1959 gothic chiller holds a high place in the library of supernatural-horror fiction.

The story has hit the screen before, most impressively with Director Robert Wise’s 1963 film. This time around, Mike Flanagan (HUSH, OCULUSOUIJA: ORIGIN OF EVIL) will be leading us into shadows of Hill House. The cast includes returning stars of Flanagan films and some impressive dramatic television names, including Michiel Huisman (GAME OF THRONES), Carla Gugino (GERALD’S GAME), Timothy Hutton (THE DARK HALF), Henry Thomas (E.T., QUIJA: ORIGIN OF EVIL) and Kate Siegel (HUSH).

The HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE will premiere on Netflix as a 10-episode series and we’ve got five of the first images for your viewing pleasure. As I’ve said before, let’s hope the producers treat the fearsome Hill House with the respect it deserves, because as Ms. Jackson wrote those many years ago, “Silence lay steadily against the wood and stone of Hill House, and whatever walked there, walked alone”.

Plot Synopsis

A modern reimagining of Shirley Jackson‘s iconic novel, The Haunting of Hill House explores a group of siblings who, as children, grew up in what would go on to become the most famous haunted house in the country. Now adults, and forced back together in the face of tragedy, the family must finally confront the ghosts of their past — some of which still lurk in their minds while others may actually be stalking the shadows of Hill House.
