When EW debuted the new look of demented clown Pennywise for the upcoming IT remake, it was a little tough to get an accurate feel of the revamped character.  Sure, the clown looked menacing, but he was so shrouded in shadows that it was a bit of a disappointing debut image.  But now that the new adaptation is in post production, we have a new glimpse of the character in action, courtesy of special effects and makeup artist Tom Woodruff Jr.

Pennywise. With a balloon. Yes, please.  Even if you’re not a fan of the baroque aesthetic, one thing is clear: Bill Skarsgård is completely committed to this role.

Andy Muschietti is directing the two-part adaptation.  The first part is scheduled for release on September 8th, 2017.

Update: The image has since been removed from Instagram, but screenshots are a thing in 2016. So here’s the original image PLUS ANOTHER NEW ONE for good measure.
