Featured as the first segment for the upcoming anthology feature The Mortuary Collection, a trailer for The Babysitter Murders has been released right on the cusp of screenings at Fantastic Fest in the Short Fuse program. The short premiered at the Stanley Film Festival earlier this year, where it won both audience and jury awards for best short. If this teaser is any indication, we have much to look forward to from the upcoming full feature by director Ryan Spindell and Trapdoor Pictures.

On the run from the police, a misguided young girl takes refuge in a decrepit old mortuary. There she meets Montgomery Dark, an eccentric undertaker with more than a few skeletons in his closet. Montgomery chronicles the strange history of the town through a series of twisted tales, each more terrifying than the last, but the young girl’s world is unhinged when she discovers that the final story… is her own. THE MORTUARY COLLECTION taps into four distinct horror sub-genres making it a virtual potpourri of horror favorites. There’s a Slasher Film, a Monster Movie, a Ghost Story and a Psychological Tale of Madness, all intertwined in a sleepy New England town.
