This is starting to look good.....real good

Initially, all I needed to know was that Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury were at the helm of the long-rumored Texas Chainsaw Massacre prequel. I have an undying belief in that team, and will approach anything they touch with a strong sense of optimism – even if their follow up efforts haven’t quite peaked in the same way as their debut (Inside). But as time went on, and casting news was rumored, I found myself growing more curious on how they would approach the TCM universe. After all, there has already been a prequel…but this predates even that.

Well, thanks to our friends at Deadline, we now have the official rundown on Seth M. Sherwood’s screenplay…and it sounds glorious. Check it out below:

Stephen Dorff is taking the lead role of Hartman in the Millenniums Films’ Texas Chainsaw Massacre prequel Leatherface. The film centers around a violent teen who one day will become Leatherface. He escapes from a mental hospital with three other inmates, kidnaps a young nurse and takes her on a road trip from hell. Along the way, they are pursued by an equally deranged lawman out for revenge.

So there you have it. If you are familiar with the works of Bustillo and Maury, then you should know that a “roadtrip from hell” is well within their wheelhouse. I’m beyond excited, and can’t wait to hear more. We will of course keep you informed on all the latest as it becomes available. Stay tuned.
