I fucking hate zombies. If you’re a long-standing member of our reader base or avid podcast listener, you know this as fact. But even I, as jaded as I may be when it comes to this particular sub genre, can get excited when someone comes up with something new – and that’s exactly what the folks behind Pandemic appear to have done.

With Virtually Reality headsets on the rise, I have to imagine that we’ll begin seeing more and more of these POV horror films entering production. And while Pandemic doesn’t appear to have been shot in a 360 degree VR format, the first-person perspective really adds a layer of intensity to a sub genre that desperately needs it. Don’t believe me? Have a look below at the trailer, and let us know what you think. I’m on board, and will totally be watching this one in a VR headset of some sort regardless.

Pandemic is set to hit select theaters on April 1st, 2016 and VOD platforms on April 5th.

Pandemic takes place in the near future, where a virus of epic proportions has overtaken the planet. There are more infected than uninfected, and humanity is losing its grip on survival. Its only hope is finding a cure and keeping the infected contained. Lauren (Rachel Nichols) is a doctor, who, after the fall of New York, comes to Los Angeles to lead a team to hunt for and rescue uninfected survivors.
