Bandit Motion Pictures, the team behind this year’s Harvest Lake and Plank Face, announced their third film under the banner. As the title suggests, Space Babes from Outer Space, will be a bit of a departure from their previous output.

Williams, who wrote the script, called it an “all out comedy…but not just any comedy — a sexy space comedy.

“It’s the kind of fun, sexy, feel good film that I grew up watching as a teenager in the 80’s, and I’ve always wanted to bring that sort of thing to the screen,” he said. “With a cast of characters that are truly out of this world, it’s Barbarella meets Screwballs, with a dash of Splash, and tons of laughs.”

“We’re definitely not finished with horror,” added Schirmer. “We think Space Babes will have a lot of cross-over appeal with horror fans, actually. After going to the dark places Harvest Lake and Plank Face took us, we think our audience is ready to laugh and have a good time with the Space Babes. I know we are!”

Bandit has said in the past that it intends to make two movies a year, and so far they’ve made good on that promise. With a target of spring 2017, Space Babes from Outer Space should continue to allow that frequency. Schirmer says they’ll continue to strive for it “as long as people seem interested” in what they make and for as long as they can afford it.

Speaking of that, they’re selling Collector’s Edition VHS copies of Plank Face as well as Plank Face trading cards from their website and auctioning off props from that movie on eBay (stating today) to help bolster the funds for Space Babes from Outer Space. So far, no crowdfunding campaign has been announced.

Casting is underway, and the movie will shoot in Indiana in December.
