Although I’m betting fans of the Twilight film series are in the minority here at Modern Horrors, there is likely one thing we all agree on: Robert Pattinson, underneath all the 2008-2012 Twilight hype, is a really good actor and he’s continued to prove it. Since the Twilight series ended, Pattinson has notably starred in David Cronenberg’s Cosmopolis, the tense Australian drama, The Rover and of course this years outstanding, The Lost City of Z. From the looks of A24’s trailer for Pattinson’s next film, it looks like his trend will continue.

Described as an “intoxicating portrait of desperation” and a “haywire symphony of violence and mayhem“, Good Time is directed by brothers Josh and Benny Safdie, two Spirit Award-winning New Yorkers who continue to generate good buzz. In fact, Good Time will compete for the Palme d’Or in the main competition section this month at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival. It is scheduled to be released this year on August 11th from A24.

The film will also star Jennifer Jason Leigh and feature music from Punk legend, Iggy Pop and musician/composer Oneohtrix Point Never. Take a breath and enjoy the poster and the action-packed emotional trailer below.

After a botched bank robbery lands his younger brother in prison, Constantine Nikas (Robert Pattinson) embarks on a twisted odyssey through the city’s underworld in an increasingly desperate—and dangerous—attempt to get his brother out of jail. Over the course of one adrenalized night, Constantine finds himself on a mad descent into violence and mayhem as he races against the clock to save his brother and himself, knowing their lives hang in the balance.
