SCREAM as a TV series had to overcome tremendous adversity in its early days. The very idea of a slasher film being adapted to a teen drama (on MTV of all places) was more than enough to make seasoned horror vets roll their eyes. But somehow, through all of the negativity and mocking, the sons of bitches pulled it off. The team behind Scream: The TV Series [Review] was able to produce something that felt very much like a guilty pleasure–even to us diehards. It was clever, tonally accurate, and well received by most audiences far and wide. . . and now it’s coming home on DVD.

Adapted from the late Wes Craven’s iconic film Scream, MTV’s popular teen slasher series arrives on DVD May 10th from Anchor Bay Entertainment and Dimension TV for the suggest retail price of $34.98. Special features include thrilling never-before-seen footage including a Gag Reel, Deleted Scenes and Promotional Gallery.

With Season 2 confirmed and right around the corner–now would be an awful good time to get caught up.

After a cyber-bullying incident results in a brutal murder, the shocking violence stirs up memories of a killing spree from the past that has haunted some, intrigued others and maybe just inspired a new killer. A group of teens — with two old friends struggling to reconnect at its heart — become lovers, enemies, suspects, targets and victims of an assassin who’s out for blood.
