Last week, Shudder (the new “Netflix for horror” movie streaming service) launched in public beta enabling anybody to sign up for an account. Since it was first announced, I’ve seen a lot of people suggest that it doesn’t have much of anything that isn’t already available on Netflix. While this may be closer to accurate if you’re counting Netflix’s DVD service, Shudder actually has quite a lot to offer that is absent from Netflix’s streaming catalog, at least here in the U.S.

So yeah, there are a few that aren’t on Netflix. If you subscribe to both Netflix’s streaming offering and their DVD offering, you may be able to get a lot of these titles through that, but you still have to wait for them to be shipped to you, and you probably have a lot of other things besides these in your DVD queue as well.

Some of the titles can also be found on Hulu, but there are plenty that aren’t available there either.

In case you missed it, here are 10 reasons you might want to give Shudder a try.

*There could be additional titles because I’ve noticed some in the past that were listed on various sections of the site, but not in the alphabetical browsing interface, which is what I used to compile this list.
