There is a new breed of horror film starting to take shape. It’s not that the filmmakers are doing anything completely unique or groundbreaking on their own, but the elements they blend are coming to life in an interesting and refreshing way that, I feel, is taking our beloved genre to new heights. Films like Starry Eyes or Pieces of Talent have been praised as of late for taking a rather dramatic approach to horror…. and I’m loving it.
Enter Sun Choke.
Sun Choke appears to be the latest film to take this approach, and with a debut coming up at the highly regarded Stanley Film Festival, they seem to be on the right track. The trailer below shows a young lady in some type of recovery with a lady that seems…. not quite right. We get flickers of bloody walls and chaos balanced with squeaky clean set pieces and eerie dialog. This is the shit that I live for, and I can’t wait to see more.
You can rest assured that we will be keeping you posted on all things Sun Choke as we near its debut. Until then, have a look at the trailer, stills, and poster below.
