Let’s face it, horror movies would be nothing without their super annoying, awesome, psycho villains. I can safely say that most of the time I prefer the psycho with the chainsaw or knife over the helpless victim. If you can think of a horror movie where you didn’t have your blood thirsty killer…then you would have something like Paranormal Activity, and if you ask me seven or however many Paranormal Activity movies were enough. While there have been many great psycho characters in older movies I wanted to take the time to give credit to the newbies. Here is my top 10 list of the best psycho killers in modern (2000 and on) horror movies.

#10 Ben Whishaw as Jean-Babtiste Grenouille in Perfume (2006)

Not everyone would consider this a horror movie but I thought it deserved to be in this list because I don’t know about you guys but a guy chasing women down an ally in the night, killing them, and making perfume out of their scent is just a tad bit creepy. While this psycho might come off as a humble gentleman he is not your average-joe orphan. I don’t know it could be because he was born in a fish market and thrown into a pile of headless fish…just a hunch. Where is that pepper spray when you need it.

#9 Ok-bin Kim as Tae-Ju in Thirst (2009)

As a girl I love strong lead female roles but there was something off about this character and the more I think about the more I realize it’s her psychotic nature that pissed me off.  I understand a woman has needs but come on lady, raping a priest, killing innocent human beings, including your own stepbrother who is also your husband, so you can drink their blood is not the sanest thing you can do, even if you are a vampire.

#8 Tobin Bell as John Kramer aka Jigsaw in Saw I, II,III,IV, V, VI,VII

This list would not be complete without our favorite trap maker John Kramer, aka Jigsaw. Jigsaw just wanted two things in life, a cure for his cancer, and a healthy child from his pregnant wife. When none of the above was an option he decided to teach the ungrateful a lesson by putting them through a series of traps. Jigsaw’s motive was for his candidates who survive to live life with a new perspective however that wasn’t always the case since some end up psychotic themselves, such as miss Amanda.

#7 Juan Fernandez as The Collector in The Collector (2009) and The Collection (2012)

After Jigsaw I must admit the collector makes is close second when it comes to setting up traps. The collector made it in the list because let’s face it I’m sure I’m not alone when I say collecting humans is not the most normal hobby out there. Other than setting booby traps all over a house for fun he also enjoys ripping out people’s intestines out and sew people’s’ mouth shut. Doing all this for no apparent reason but pure joy just makes this even more psychotic.

#6 Michael Pitt as Paul in Funny Games (2007)

Words cannon express how much I enjoyed this remake. Even though the movie was packed with great actors Michael Pitt as Paul was by far my favorite part of the movie. The quote “whether by knife or whether by gun losing your life can sometimes be fun”?  really explains Paul’s psycho nature; I mean if these aren’t words of a psychopath I don’t know what are. What makes Paul the perfect psychopath is his pride in his actions and his calm and zen attitude towards the family’s anguish to his torturous actions. To Paul invading a family’s house and mentally torturing them is nothing but funny games.

#5 Robin McLeavy as Lola in The Loved Ones (2009)

Lola is by far my favorite psycho female. She is just on top of her game when it comes to creative games to play to entertain her handsome guests. Her party activities include drilling boys’ heads and pouring boiling water in it, drawing on their body with a fork then throwing salt on it, oh and if you are lucky she’ll make you pee in a cup while she stares dead at your penis, not to mention competing with her mother on the beauty scale because she has a crush on her father. Doing all those torturous acts over a crush on a boy made Lola the perfect psycho killer at such young age, oh they grow up too fast.

#4 Beatrice Dalle as The Woman in Inside (2007)

I can’t imagine what it would feel like for a mother to lose her unborn child in a car accident. However last time I checked going after a pregnant woman to literally rip her unborn child out of her is just not normal. This movie is the definition of horror and that’s all thanks to Beatrice Dalle’s character as The Woman. I must say as an uninvited guest at least she did the honor of paining the walls of the house red with blood before she left. Her kills were brutal, bloody, and the baby deliver was anything but smooth, so we can be rest assured that the child will suffer PTSD.

#3 Christian Bale as Patrick in American Psycho (2000)

Patrick Bateman is probably the most attractive psycho out there. The title of the movie alone is pretty self-explanatory. Patrick’s mental issues leads him to kill women, kill coworker, cut heads off, eat their brains and so much more that I don’t even know where to begin.

#2 Dieter Laser as Dr. Heiter in The Human Centipede (2009)

Maybe Dr. Heiter never got that pet pony growing up or maybe his parents never bought him that cute puppy; whatever the reason he should really get checked because the idea of a human centipede is in fact a very sick thought to have in your head. It’s one thing killing humans but another when you attach three humans together from rear end to the mouth. Dr. Heiter you are one sick fuck.

#1 Laurence R. Harvey as Martin in the Human Centipede II (2011)

Human-Centipede-2-Yummy

Dr. Heiter was definitely a sicko for sure…but Martin my dear you take the cake on the psycho scale. At least Dr. Heiter had the courtesy to do the centipede procedure in a sanitary location with sterilized tools, unlike Martin where he used office supplies to create his lovely centipede. Not to mention he likes to masturbate with sandpaper, yeah…I’ll leave it at that. This movie was one train wreck after another and psycho Martin was just painful to watch but it definitely deserves to be in the number one spot on this list.
