Screening at AFM this week in search of distribution is director Padraig Reynolds’ feature about a serial killer gunned down while in possession of Guatemalan talismans. It might sound a bit too similar to fans of the popular killer doll franchise, Child’s Play, but the trailer indicates that the similarities end there. Instead, these worry dolls seem to have an almost plague-like effect as their curse spreads throughout the city, beginning with Detective Matt’s daughter.

Worry Dolls premiered at Film4 Frightfest in London with rave reviews, and will screen tomorrow night for a private audience.  The investors are looking to use Worry Dolls as a launching point for a production company based in Seattle and hope that a distribution deal will allow them to build a franchise around the film.  Confidence of this level bodes well…  we just might have a sleeper hit on our hands.

Kennedy Brice, already appearing in this year’s June, is having a strong year.  Also stars Christopher Wiehl, Kym Jackson, and Brea Grant. If the action-packed trailer is any indication, we have much to look forward to.

The Guatemalan Indians teach their children an old story. If you have worries, you share them with your Worry Dolls at bedtime. You put the dolls in a box and come dawn, the worries have been taken away… In the aftermath of the hunt for notorious serial killer, Henry Leonard Bale, a peaceful town erupts in a chain of random, brutal murders. What Detective Matt Williams discovers is as unbelievable as it is undeniable – These killings all stem from an ancient set of Worry Dolls that was gifted to Bale when he was a boy. Now, with his young daughter’s life hanging in the balance, Matt is pitted against the clock to find the dolls and break their curse.
