What was it that Andy Warhol said about 15 minutes? Google it.

While you’re doing that, you should know that fifteen minutes at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival can make dreams, or in this case, nightmares come true. After this year’s ‘Frontieres Goes to Cannes’ showcase, where dedicated filmmakers showcase a mere 15 minutes of their genre films in various stages of production or post-production, we’re happy to share that XYZ Films has spotlighted The Dark, snagging rights for this supernatural chiller from Writer/Director, Justin P. Lange.

Inspired by Lange’s Columbia University thesis film, The Dark promises what its title hints at: Chills. Produced by the Vienna-based Dor Film and Toronto’s First Love Films, The Dark stars Toby Nichols, Karl Markovics and Nadia Alexander, the latter of which won Best Actress at this years Tribeca Film Festival for her work in 20-year old filmmaker, Quinn Shepard’s Blame.

Here at Modern Horrors, we think XYZ Films has been a stalwart in strong genre-features, delivering such tricks and treats as Under the Shadow and I Don’t Feel at Home in this World Anymore. With that in mind, we’re happy to share these first look images from The Dark. Don’t be afraid of it.

THE DARK is the story of a murderous, flesh-eating, undead girl who haunts the remote stretch of woods where she was killed. Years later she befriends a kidnapped blind boy who changes her life.
