UNTIL DAWN isn’t to be taken too serious. The acting is b tier level, and the story is paper thin. That doesn’t mean it isn’t worth your time. As fans of the genre know sometimes you just want to see the blood fly and body bags mount. In fact, some of the best fun of UNTIL DAWN is passing the controller around to friends and seeing who’s obnoxious meat sack bites the dust next.

Available for Playstation 4

Set in the 1960s in Taiwan during the White Terror, DETENTION pulls inspiration right out its history books and religious text to tell a terrifying and tragic story about government oppression, strained relationships, and the cruelty of human nature, and all this before we meet “The Lingered”. DETENTION is a point and click that managed to creep me the hell out.

Available for: PlayStation 4, PC, macOS, and a Switch version is coming… eventually.

RESIDENT EVIL will never not come out. It will be on every console ever made when the console is formally ready to accept video games. It’s a perpetual reminder from Capcom that sometimes all you need is a good haunted house. From the first zombie to the Jill Sandwich, it’s all there but looking a lot better. RESIDENT EVIL is still cheesy as hell, and I hate its key/door puzzle structure but man, there’s still nothing like walking around that mansion with those fixed camera angles. if you haven’t played it before there literally no better time to play RESIDENT EVIL.

Available for Gamecube, Wii, Playstation 4, Playstation 3,  Xbox One, Xbox 360, PC, and your mom

You wouldn’t be wrong if you called LAYERS OF FEAR a walking-sim, but like any good walking-sim the world you explore is painstakingly detailed and the atmosphere is dreadfully engrossing. If you’re new to the genre, don’t expect a lot of action. LAYERS OF FEAR is about exploring every nook and cranny of the world as you’re funneled towards its dark secrets. Give it a shot, if you are interested in a creepy story you won’t be disappointed.

Available for Playstation 4, Xbox One, PC, macOS, and a Switch version is coming soon
