The collaboration between The Walking Dead’s Norman Reedus, Guillermo del Toro, and Hideo Kojima had fans salivating for the pending Silent Hills franchise reboot. Konami pulled the rug out from under us last year with the cancellation announcement, and we were left wondering what could have been.  Since then, it seemed the trio still harbored some lingering hope that a collaboration between the three could continue at some point in the future, despite their very busy schedules.  For fans, though, It felt all but a forgone conclusion that Konami squashed all hope despite the trio’s optimism.

Or did they?  Hideo Kojima has since moved on to create his own studio, Kojima Productions, and a recent tweet features a reunion between Kojima and former collaborator Reedus.

Of course, it could be simply catching up with old friends, but perhaps it’s something more? Kojima made it a point to tweet the reunion in multiple languages, stirring up a frenzy of speculation from fans.  While Silent Hills is off the table, this could potentially mean something far more exciting: a completely original project in the works.

Even more curious?  Kojima is expected to have a reunion with del Toro very soon, as both are featured keynote speaks at the D.I.C.E Summit. The pieces definitely seem to be lining up.  Either way, you can bet we’ll be following this closely.
