I’m sure that many poor souls committed to an insane asylum long to break out, but breaking in? Who wants to break in to an asylum?  I suppose if the asylum has long been abandoned and there’s a lot of money on the line, you might. Which is the case for the four friends searching for a death certificate in a large, deserted mental hospital, hoping to land a large inheritance.  It’s never so easy, though, is it?

Aside from the notable cast lead by Chace Crawford, Eliza Dushku, Robert Patrick, Nicole Forester, and Brandon T. Jackson, the film is centered around an actual psychiatric hospital located in Michigan. The name, Eloise, came from the post office on the grounds that opened in 1894, named after the postmaster’s daughter. Of course, the hospital’s history goes back further than that, beginning as a small, one building asylum that eventually grew into a massive, self-sustained little city before being abandoned in 1982. It also might be the first hospital to ever use x-rays.

Which makes this the perfect setting for a psychological thriller. I’m now very curious to see what awaits for these characters, and judging by the trailer, below, it looks like there’s a very dark history to be explored.

Written by Christopher Borrelli and directed by Robert Legato, Eloise will be released on February 3, 2017.

Four friends break into an abandoned insane asylum in search of a death certificate which will grant one of them a large inheritance. However, finding it soon becomes the least of their worries in a place haunted by dark memories.
