Being a Horror fan is tough...

It seems as if it’s becoming more and more challenging to find quality Horror apparel. With companies like Funko going out of their way to infantilize the franchises we love so dearly, finding something that accurately conveys the spirit of the genre can be a frustrating experience. Even when you do find something that looks cool – it’s typically ruined by some cheesy catchphrase or not-so-secret inside reference. It’s maddening. New FleshAnd as much as i love modern horror movies (shocker), there’s something about the artwork and designs of yesteryear that really hit home for me. There’s a textbook style and logic to it all, and Aaron Crawford’s CAVITYCOLORS absolutely nails it.

CAVITYCOLORS is comprised of Aaron Crawford, Ricki Kelly, and the slew of other amazing artists that they collaborate with. After years of doodling, Crawford’s first real-world experience came from designing T-Shirts for local bands. From there, CAVITYCOLORS blossomed into a “internationally recognized brand featuring high quality T-shirts, Tanktops, Hoodies, Art Prints, Buttons, Stickers, and more that is inspired by his earliest obsessions with VHS cover art, Halloween, heavy metal album covers, and skateboarding”. I know – that sounds like a lot – and it sort of is. But beyond the massive scope of the brand lies one core value: Excellent design.

While the product catalog largely relies on “classic” franchises like Friday the 13th, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Puppet Master, etc – CAVITYCOLORS also sports designs from quality modern horrors such as The Demon’s Rook and Starry Eyes. That’s what differentiates this brand; the willingness to collaborate with outside artists and companies to deliver a unique product. I can walk into any Spencer’s location across America and get a (not so cool looking) horror tee featuring the classics, but modern options and original designs separate CAVITYCOLORS from the pack… by a lot.

Adding to the allure of the designs is the fact that the majority of these are gone forever once the initial stock sells through. So that kind of makes each product “rare” in its own right… and you know us horror nerds like rare stuff.Starry Eyes Perhaps even more importantly though is the fact that CAVITYCOLORS is such a small team. We constantly bang the drum for independent filmmakers and ask you to support them at every turn, but the same thing applies here.

So next time you’re in the market for some new threads or a sweet-ass print for that empty wall in the living room; swing by CAVITYCOLORS ,and support some people that are doing it the old school way. I certainly appreciate the effort, and i assume you guys will as well.
