Former professional wrestler, jiu jitsu practitioner, comic book writer, and MMA competitor–Phil “CM Punk” Brooks–looks to add screen acting to his expansive list of extracurriculars with Girl on the Third Floor. The film, which just wrapped production, sees Brooks front and center in the starring role. And while you might assume this would be a cheesy slasher of some sort, it looks like genre fans might get more than they bargain for.
Producer Greg Newman praised Brooks for his “range” and says he delivers a performance that is “sure to delight and surprise those who know him best from his athletic career”. Only time will tell, but the plot synopsis below sets the bar relatively high in terms of demand. We’ll be keeping our eyes on this one and will let you know when more information becomes available.
Until then, check out our first look at CM Punk channeling his inner Jack Torrance in Girl on the Third Floor. He’s definitely got the eyes for it.
Don Koch (CM Punk) is failing as a husband. For years he has skated by on charm and charisma, until it nearly landed him in jail. He now views fixing up an old house as a chance to make up for past mistakes. Meanwhile, his wife, Liz Koch, is concerned about the renovation timeline as they have a baby on the way. With all this pressure it’s no wonder Don responds to the flirtations of an attractive stranger. As Don tears the house apart, it begins to tear him apart as well, revealing the rot behind the drywall.
