When the new poster and teaser trailer for A24’s latest horror movie dropped last week, the internet went wild. With good reason, too; not only did the teaser give off extreme tension and retro vibes, but anything put out by A24 is usually something to celebrate. Perhaps that warm reception was just what A24 needed to push their confidence in the project to the next level.  Instead of the original August release date, the film release has been bumped up a full two months early. It Comes at Night went from a release slot with no competition to now going toe-to-toe with Tom Cruise’s The Mummy. That’s an intimidating box office opponent, but that’s ok, I think we know who the clear winner will be in terms of quality.

It Comes at Night stars Joel Edgerton, Riley Keough, Christopher Abbott, and Carmen Ejogo. It will now arrive in theaters on June 9, 2017.

A horror film following a man (Joel Edgerton) as he is learns that the evil stalking his family home may be only a prelude to horrors that come from within.

Secure within a desolate home as an unnatural threat terrorizes the world, the tenuous domestic order he has established with his wife and son is put to the ultimate test with the arrival of a desperate young family seeking refuge.

Despite the best intentions of both families, paranoia and mistrust boil over as the horrors outside creep ever-closer, awakening something hidden and monstrous within him as he learns that the protection of his family comes at the cost of his soul.
