We at Modern Horrors have not exactly made our admiration for the remake process a secret, but even we are scratching our heads on this one. Sunn Classic Pictures revealed today that a remake of their 1983 Stephen King adaptation of CUJO is in the works. While this shouldn’t come as a surprise to any of you… the new acronym of a name certainly is strange.
The film is operating under the title C.U.J.O. – which we are told stands for “Canine Unit Joint Operations”. Now, I don’t know what that means – and if you have any theories, feel free to float them our way. It definitely casts a military/special-ops experiment vibe to the entire thing. And while I’m sure that can be successful… I’m not sure it’s needed. Just give me a pissed off pup (that doesn’t die at the end) and I’ll be good to go. Let’s keep the government out of things.

Maybe, it’ll be something like Return of the Living Dead 3? Yeah, I’m thinking military/special-ops experiment, too.
