One of my favorite films of 2018 was Charlie Steed’s The House of Violent Desire. THOVD was my first foray into Steed’s work and was very impressed by his ability to infuse new elements while paying homage to Gothic horror. His follow-up film Winterskin looks just as subversive. I was fortunate enough to get to interview with Steeds about how the production came to be and how it is an immaculate amalgamation of chilling themes in modern horror.

Official Trailer for Winterskin (2019)

Horribly injured, delirious, and under extreme duress, Billy is given refuge by an eccentric old woman who has been living in a deep seclusion. But there is something in the woods coming for them both. A bloodthirsty skinless creature hellbent on getting inside. Formally described as “a blood-soaked snowbound chiller” this film looks just as formidable as the poster suggests. So let’s catch this cold together.
