"What would you do if your fears got hacked and used against you?"

I’m going to start this post off with the generic E3 caveat: It has become extremely common for developers to showcase highly unrealistic versions of their games at the annual gaming expo over the years, but that’s not always the case–and we’re certainly hoping that what we’re seeing here is legit.

Sure, Friday the 13th: The Game has us all excited, and that new Call of Cthulhu game is looking pretty sweet as well–but what ever happened to new and original IPs? This is a trend that is impacting the gaming community as much as it is the film community. That’s why Bloober Team’s OBSERVER is one of the most promising things we’ve seen thus far heading out of E3. The team (known for the well-regarded LAYERS of FEAR [Review]) had this to say:

“We are focusing on deep narrative and environmental storytelling,” he said. “You play as a detective and observer and use your skills to scan the environment and hack player’s fears.”

Check out the teaser trailer for the game below, and let us know what you think. Me? I’m all over it. People running around and hacking other people’s fears… I have extremely high hopes.
