20th Century Fox is releasing the Alexandre Aja produced The Other Side of the Door on March 11, 2016.  The film stars Sarah Wayne Callies(Walking Dead) as a mother grieving for her son who recently died in a horrific accident.  She is offered the chance to speak with her son one last time by a shaman/medicine woman of some kind.  As always with these things, there is a rule that can’t be broken — she can talk to him from behind a door, but must never open it.  Also as always with these things, she can’t follow that single rule and all hell breaks loose.  This one could go either way for me.  The trailer makes it look really damn creepy, but it could also fall into the same traps as other horror films with decent budgets and bigger ad campaigns(Ouija anyone?).  Don’t get me wrong… I am going to see it… I just haven’t decided if I’m going to pay full price or hit the matinee.

A family lives an idyllic existence abroad until a tragic accident takes the life of their young son. The inconsolable mother learns of an ancient ritual that will bring him back to say a final goodbye. She travels to an ancient temple, where a door serves as a mysterious portal between two worlds. But when she disobeys a sacred warning to never open that door, she upsets the balance between life and death.
