As much as I will always celebrate and appreciate horror victories at the box office, I can’t but help feel like a small portion of the genre’s charm has been lost in recent attempts to make everything bigger, better, and more commercially accessible. That’s why, in a world full of superhero movies and multimillion dollar Stephen King adaptations, Matthew Lawrence’s Uncle Peckerhead has my full attention.

The debut teaser has everything I could ask for. Punk rock, comedy, hyperbolic violence, and a man-eating hillbilly. Uncle Peckerhead is set to make its world premiere with our friends over at Panic Fest, but I’m certain it will be making its rounds through the festival circuit before scoring a formal release. We’ll be sure to update you with future screenings when available, but for now, check out the debut teaser–it’s awesome.

As the bassist of the 3-piece punk-rock band, DUH, Judy dreams of quitting her job and touring full time. But when the band finds themselves on their first tour with a man-eating hillbilly for a roadie, the “gig life” is paved with nightmares and half-eaten bodies.
