It is no secret that horror television is on the rise. With successful television shows like A&E’s Bates Motel and The CW’s Supernatural, it seems as if horror is making a comeback by modernizing itself in today’s culture by taking the leap from the big screen to prime time. Horror is evolving even more into modern times by reintroducing familiar icons from the past to the younger generations of today. However, these are not the same old stories of your father’s favorite horror icons. They’re brand-new stories, but with the familiar elements of the past. We’ve seen a handful of our horror heroes already on television with Damien, Bates Motel, and Hannibal, and now it’s time for a much different and more terrifying tale than the prior. Get your barf bag and crucifix ready–THE EXORCIST is heading to FOX!

Back in January of this year FOX ordered a pilot for THE EXORCIST, which was originally assembled by Morgan Creek. Currently, FOX has Lucifer and Sleepy Hollow already on their roster, so making horror/drama shows is no novice feat. With the director and writer combination of Rupert Wyatt (Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes) and Jeremy Slater (The Lazarus Effect.) I have high hopes that THE EXORCIST will be a huge success and fantastic television show.

More than four decades after the Academy Award-nominated film solidified itself as the greatest horror movie ever made, The Exorcist returns in series format as a propulsive psychological thriller following two very different priests tackling one family’s case of horrifying demonic possession.
