So the rumor mill has been in full swing across all the horror sites ever since The Tracking Board dropped news that New Line Cinema was looking to once again reboot The Nightmare on Elm Street series.  After the lukewarm reception that the 2010 reboot received, the studio is supposedly going back to square one in an attempt to resuscitate to 30 year old movie franchise.

The biggest news coming out of all of this is the supposed attachment of David Leslie Johnson.  Johnson wrote the screenplay for 2009’s Orphan, 2012’s Wrath of the Titans, and has done re-writes for The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist.

With the backlash that has been directed at remakes lately, it’s going to be interesting to see what kind of reception awaits Freddy.  New Line has the kind of spending power to make sure that our favorite Nightmare is treated like the star that he is.  However, having so recently delivered a lackluster version of this EXACT product, I feel like they’re starting off behind the proverbial 8-ball.  Obviously we’ll keep our eyes out for more concrete information and send it your way as we get it.
