"Psycho in Space"? Count me in.

Syfy has released a first look trailer for the new 10-part series, NIGHTFLYERS based on a 1980 novella by GAME OF THRONES author, George R.R. Martin. We talked about it last year here.

In the sneak peak below, Martin himself calls the show a “Haunted House story in a star ship“. With a tag-line like that, I only have one question: Where do we enlist?

The original NIGHTFLYERS novella won the Locus Award for Best Novella and was nominated for the Hugo Award for Best Novella. It was also made into a fairly forgettable 1987 film where the demonic entity was basically, you guessed it, an evil computer. Let’s hope this re-imagining updates the shocks and suspense for an audience hungry for HBO/GAME OF THRONES-style violence and intrigue.

The show-runner and writer is Jeff Buhler who previously penned THE MIDNIGHT MEAT TRAIN and ABC’S OF DEATH 2. George R.R. Martin will executive produce and the series will star Gretchen Mol (3:10 TO YUMA, BOARDWALK EMPIRE), Angus Sampson (INSIDIOUS), Eoin Macken (THE NIGHT SHIFT), Maya Eshet (TEEN WOLF) and Sam Strike (LEATHERFACE).

No exact release date yet for NIGHTFLYERS, but blast-off is expected Fall 2018.

Eight maverick scientists and a powerful telepath embark on an expedition to the edge of our solar system aboard The Nightflyer – a ship with a small tight-knit crew and a reclusive captain – in the hope of making contact with alien life. But when terrifying and violent events begin to take place they start to question each other – and surviving the journey proves harder than anyone thought.
