The trailer for Hosts sets the story up as a home invasion piece, but it becomes evident quickly that the invaders aren’t regular criminals out simply for burglary or murder. It is clear that there is a supernatural element at play here. This film is described as a “possession thriller” possibly making the title a bit of a play on words. Are the Hosts the ones hosting dinner, or the ones hosting evil entities in their bodies?

Are the Hosts the ones hosting dinner, or the ones hosting evil entities in their bodies?

A voice-over at the beginning of a trailer makes this feel like a fairy tale or a fable where we might learn a valuable moral lesson by the end. I have to wonder if this family was targeted specifically for something one of them has done rather than just being the victims of poor judgement as far as who to invite to Christmas Eve dinner. Looks like this one is going to give us a lot of blood and tension!
